Widespread across the UK, The Emperor Moth lives primarily in heathland, hedges and woodland bordering fields.
The Museum has two mounted examples, the second of which is damaged and is therefore unfit for public display.
Artist's Notes
This was the first of all the drawings in the series, and remains my favourite. I chose to draw the Emperor Moth mainly as I’d seen photos and the fine hair detail looked like it would be fun to try and draw.
