Society of the Silent Wing

Introduction

Founded in 1803, the Society of the Silent Wing exists to document and record both accepted and disputed species of animal alike.

We have archives detailing animals you’d see in everyday life, as well as creatures which you have probably never seen before. Creatures whose place in this world is unsettled and uncertain. Witnesses who have been ignored or even ridiculed are taken seriously here.

Our name comes from the Nightjar. A bird who’s flight is so quiet and it’s call so haunting that it was once mistaken for the wandering souls of the unbaptised. A fitting patron for an institution designed to be a friend to the lost and unresolved.
